What is a virtual internship?

HackerNoon has been, and have always been a remote-first company. Therefore, the internship is also virtual, or remote. That mean you will work from home with your private space, rather than coming into an office.

With all of its employees and contractors working remotely from Day 1 (yes, even before the pandemic), HackerNoon has had a lot of experience managing, engaging, and supporting a remote workforce. We always actively provide our team members with ways to bond and connect.

Hence, worry not. You will not miss the fun culture by working remotely, especially at HackerNoon.

When will I hear back from HackerNoon?

We typically review our applications within 2-4 weeks.

Due to the high volume of applications, we will only contact short-listed candidates for the next steps.

If you don't hear back from us within that timeframe, please assume that we unfortunately have to reject your application. We will still keep your resume on file for future opportunities. Or, you can try reapplying, but do better.

Where does HackerNoon typically have internship opportunities?

Around the world. Since we are a remote first company with team members from across the globe, it doesn't matter where you are from. Our employees are located in North and South Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa 🌎

However, if you're from Mars (or anywhere outside our planet Earth), please verify that you're a human first. Alternatively, if you are not a human but you can read, write, edit and/or code, you are still eligible for this role.

Why don’t I see some of the teams from the last round of HackerShip?

Our teams recruit new members on a need-based basis. If you don’t see some of the teams from last year, that means the team is currently at its sufficient capacity and do not need new members for the time being. However, don’t worry as this year, we have introduced new teams/roles within the programs that could fit your interests!

I saw newly-added options for Tech Journalist, Sponsor Marketing, and Product Marketing. What are those?

Tech Journalist Interns are mentored directly by HackerNoon Founder & CEO David Smooke. Leveraging the successes of our Blogging Fellowship Program, we anticipate this role will greatly position people to become fulltime tech journalists. The interns will use HackerNoon to publish original reporting about what, why, when, where and who matters in the technology industry.

Sponsor Marketing and Product Marketing Interns are roles within HackerNoon’s Marketing Team.

  • A Sponsor Marketing Intern will help promote and distribute HackerNoon’s advertisement offers and current promotions to our audience. You will work with our Senior Business Development Representative Sidra Ijaz and COO Linh Dao Smooke.
  • A Product Marketing Intern will help introduce and promote HackerNoon’s new product features to our users. You will work with our Marketing Staff Monica Freitas and COO Linh Dao Smooke.
